Are they really short?

Short stories were introduced to me at the beginning of my Writing 200 course. At first I wanted to write a short story because I thought it would be more simpler to write something "shorter" versus something longer. Boy was I wrong! Writing a short story taught me the importance of building frame stories around the main story, as well as builing a plot, scenes, characters, etc. All of these apects of the short story had the power to make the story authentic, interesting, and unique. Some short stories listed below are my favorites because they (1) took me the longest to complete, which challenged my abilitiy as a writer, and (2) became better with time, which confirmed skills of a patient writer.

Interviews. What are they? Why are they? I know many people, especially college students can understand the anxiety and stress that comes with interviewing; there's the pressure of prepartion, transition to the location, and weird feeling of explanation about yourself.

This piece categorizes the process of getting ready for a job interview, with a twist of finding romance in the midst.

I'm sure some of us have looked in the mirror and have been dissapointed at the reflection. Some of us may have even tried to find our own reflection in others, those closet to you or those whom you'd like to be closer with. Josie does just that in "Mirrors".

This piece captures the complexities that friendships, personal reflections, and hindered relationships can have on a person's well-being. This is a mirror.

This story captures the relationship between characters Lydia & Zach. Both are strong, indepent, college graduates that are trying their best to not get too attached to one another.

This piece captures the confusion, individual perspectives, and relationship issues that two independent people face when trying to be apart ofa relationship.
